Hello everyone!
Today I'm not reporting on an AI agent but on a new AI tool from Google. A few days ago I saw NotebookLM for the first time on the Internet and immediately became very curious.
Then I read the first articles about it and watched some short videos on YouTube to find out more. After my first very positive impressions, I decided to write few sentences about this tool and present a useful use case from the area of procurement.
But first, let me briefly explain what NotebookLM actually is.
NotebookLM is a Google tool that simplifies complex information through summaries and quotes. Based on LLM, this tool, like many others, can work with the uploaded data, provide answers and analyses, or even perform creative tasks.
What makes this tool exceptional is the impressive feature called "Audio Overview". Here the tool generates an audio summary in the form of a dialogue between two people. It sounds very real, is impressive and feels very innovative. Users can download these for offline listening. While still experimental with some limitations, this feature introduces a novel approach to information comprehension.
Basically, I interpret this tool as a kind of project data base that can contain up to 50 documents, links and films. This large amount of data is a data pool for the LLM to work with and interact with the user. Google emphasises that the LLM works exclusively on the data stored in the notebook.
Now to a potential application in procurement. I have recorded a short video that shows how we can use NotebookLM to evaluate offers within an RFP process. Of course, it cannot replaces specialised tools for these tasks, but it gives a very good feeling of what is possible in the area of RFx processes with AI.
